Frequently asked questions
Hanukkah starts December 4 this year — how do I adjust these dates?
Move everything about three weeks earlier. The Dec 17 USPS Ground Advantage deadline works for a Dec 25 arrival; for Hanukkah gifts (Dec 4–12), you want the package to arrive by roughly Dec 3. A rule of thumb: use the Priority Mail tier for the deadline that’s one step faster than the one you’d normally use, or simply aim for late November for anything ground-based.
Are these shipping deadlines guaranteed?
No — they’re published expectations, not promises. They assume normal service; winter storms and holiday volume can still delay packages. If the arrival date is non-negotiable, use the lookup’s fastest tier and check the carrier’s money-back guarantee terms (FedEx Express includes one; USPS money-back guarantees cover Express services).
Why are there no UPS dates on this chart?
Because UPS hadn’t published them as of October 2026, and we won’t invent them. What’s confirmed: no pickup or delivery on Nov 26 or Dec 25, no Ground pickup on Dec 24 or Dec 31, no Ground delivery on Dec 31, and air pickups on Dec 24 need to be arranged by Dec 18. We’ll add the dates the day UPS releases them.
Why is the military deadline as early as November 4?
Mail to APO/FPO/DPO addresses travels through the military postal system after leaving USPS hands — longer, multi-hop routing. Ground Advantage to military ZIPs 090–092, 094–099, 340, and 962–966 must ship by Wednesday, Nov 4, 2026 — the earliest deadline on this page. Faster tiers (First-Class, Priority) stretch to Dec 9; Express Military to Dec 16 (except ZIP 093, which has no Express Military).
What if I miss every published deadline?
You still have options. FedEx Overnight ships as late as Wednesday, Dec 23, and FedEx SameDay as late as Thursday, Dec 24. After that: gift cards, digital gifts, and print-at-home options don’t need a carrier at all. The day-count lookup shows how far gone you are — if Dec 15 is 53 days out and you’re already past it, skip straight to the express tiers.
What’s the international deadline?
December 9, 2026 (Wednesday) for First-Class Package International and Priority Mail International to all regions; December 16, 2026 (Wednesday) for Priority Mail Express International. International mail also depends on the destination country’s customs and last-mile delivery — build in extra days and check the country’s holiday calendar.
Does USPS Ground Advantage reach Alaska and Hawaii in time?
There’s no published Ground Advantage deadline for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or the territories — USPS quotes 10+ day service and says to check your ZIP in their Service Commitments tool. For those destinations, use Priority Mail (Dec 18) or Priority Mail Express (Dec 19) for a real deadline you can plan around.
