Put your rides a week and fare a ride in: 4 rides at $12.50 a ride cost $50.00 a week — $216.67 a month, $2,600.00 a year.

On the defaults — 4 rides a week at $12.50 a ride — a rideshare cost is $50.00 a week, or $2,600.00 a year. This is the rideshare cost tool: multiply the rides by the fare a ride for the weekly cost, then stretch it to the month and the year — a week guessed from the rides alone tells you nothing until the fare behind it is known.
Put your rides a week and fare a ride in: 4 rides at $12.50 a ride cost $50.00 a week — $216.67 a month, $2,600.00 a year.
It means four rideshare rides in a week, at twelve dollars and fifty cents a ride, cost fifty dollars in the week, which is two hundred and sixteen dollars and sixty-seven cents a month and two thousand six hundred dollars in the year. The rides set the weekly count, the fare sets the cost of each trip, and the month and year are fixed stretches of the week: one more ride adds a full fare without raising any other ride, a dearer fare raises every ride without taking a single extra ride, and a cheaper fare lowers the whole week by the difference on every ride. The only judgement is the rides — 4 must be the rides actually taken, not the rides planned, and the rides that settle the cost are the ones on the app actually booked, airport trips and late-night trips included, not the commute plan alone.
| Output | Formula | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly cost | rides × fare a ride | $50.00 — 4 × $12.50. |
| Monthly cost | weekly × 52 ÷ 12 | $216.67 — $50.00 × 52 ÷ 12. |
| Yearly cost | weekly × 52 | $2,600.00 — $50.00 × 52. |
First, check the rides honestly: 4 rides must be the rides actually taken, including the extra ride home on Friday that the commute plan never showed — a week counted at 4 while 6 were taken costs twenty-five dollars more than the figure shows. Second, check the fare against the app, not the memory: $12.50 must be the fare actually charged, because a fare remembered at $10.00 that now bills at $12.50 lifts the week by ten dollars. Third, check the week against the alternatives: $216.67 a month must be set against a bus pass, a bike share pass, and the cost of running a car, because a pass below $216.67 beats rideshare at these rides — and the fare here is the ride fare only, before any tip, which the rider adds on top.
4 rides, $12.50 a ride. Weekly: 4 × $12.50 = $50.00. Monthly: $50.00 × 52 ÷ 12 = $216.67. Yearly: $50.00 × 52 = $2,600.00. In practice that means a regular rideshare rider pays about fifty dollars a week for the trips — the number to set against a monthly transit pass, and the weekly figure to use when an extra trip is weighed against a cheaper fare.
At 6 rides instead of 4, the cost rises to $75.00 a week — $325.00 a month, $3,900.00 a year. At $10.00 a ride instead of $12.50, the cost falls to $40.00 a week — $173.33 a month, $2,080.00 a year. At 3 rides instead of 4, the cost falls to $37.50 a week — $162.50 a month, $1,950.00 a year. At $15.00 a ride instead of $12.50, the cost rises to $60.00 a week — $260.00 a month, $3,120.00 a year.
The rides behind $50.00 are 4: at 3 rides the cost is $37.50; at 6 rides it is $75.00. The fare behind $50.00 is $12.50: at $10.00 a ride the cost is $40.00; at $15.00 a ride it is $60.00 — the fare never touches the ride count, only the cost of each trip.
The defaults assume 4 rides at a flat $12.50 a ride with no surge pricing, tip, toll, or subscription discount. They do not assume a monthly pass, a promo credit, or a shared ride discount — a rider on surge pricing pays more than $50.00 a week, so treat $50.00 as the standard-fare week, not the surge week.
The arithmetic is exact for the inputs entered; the judgement is the rides actually taken and the fare actually charged. Real rideshare fares vary with surge, distance, tips, and promos — so treat $50.00 as the planning cost for 4 rides at a true $12.50, and check it against one real week of rides before quoting it to anyone else.

$50.00 a week on the defaults: 4 rides × $12.50 = $50.00, which is $216.67 a month and $2,600.00 a year.
Because the year is 52 weeks at the same weekly rate, spread over 12 months: $50.00 × 52 ÷ 12 = $216.67. The yearly figure instead multiplies the week by 52 directly, which is why it is $2,600.00.
Only through the fare input: add the usual tip to $12.50 and every figure follows. The rides stay exactly the same.
$12.50 exactly at these defaults — one full ride of fare, because the weekly cost scales with the rides at the same fare.
Only through the fare input: enter the surged fare instead of $12.50 and every figure follows. A week with mixed surge and standard fares needs the average fare, not the standard fare.
