One zone for the whole country
Pakistan Time (PKT) is UTC+5 all year, from Karachi on the Arabian Sea to Lahore in the Punjab to Islamabad in the north, and Pakistan has no daylight saving time. That single fixed offset makes the Pakistan side of every conversion trivial — subtract 5 hours from PKT to get UTC, on any date, with no spring-forward or fall-back to track. All of the movement is on the American side, where the US zones shift with daylight saving while Pakistan does not, so the gap between Pakistan and New York is 10 hours in the northern winter and 9 hours in the summer. A noon meeting in Karachi is therefore 02:00 the same morning in New York in January, but 03:00 in July — and always the previous evening in Los Angeles and Honolulu.
Pakistan vs India, and why the date flips
Pakistan Time is not India Time, and confusing the two is the single most common Pakistan scheduling mistake. India Time (IST) is UTC+5:30, which is 30 minutes ahead of Pakistan Time, so noon in Karachi is 12:30 the same afternoon in Delhi — close enough to look right on a calendar and wrong enough to miss the start of a call. Do not copy an IST conversion and assume it works for Pakistan. The date question matters too: Pakistan is 9 to 10 hours ahead of the US zones, so a Pakistan daytime lands on the same early morning in the east but on the previous evening in the west — noon in Pakistan is 23:00 the previous day in Los Angeles and 21:00 the previous day in Honolulu. Always read the date beside each converted time, not just the hour. Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad all share this one zone, which is why no separate city converter is needed: this country-level page is the converter to use for all three cities.
Output · formula · meaning
| Output | Formula | What it means |
| UTC time | PKT − 5 hours | 12:00 PKT = 07:00 UTC, year-round. |
| Eastern time | UTC − 5 hours (winter) or 4 hours (summer) | 02:00 EST Jan 15 in winter, 03:00 EDT Jul 15 in summer. |
| Central time | UTC − 6 hours (winter) or 5 hours (summer) | 01:00 CST Jan 15 in winter, 02:00 CDT Jul 15 in summer. |
| Mountain time | UTC − 7 hours (winter) or 6 hours (summer) | 00:00 MST Jan 15 in winter, 01:00 MDT Jul 15 in summer. |
| Pacific time | UTC − 8 hours (winter) or 7 hours (summer) | 23:00 PST Jan 14 in winter, 00:00 PDT Jul 15 in summer. |
| Hawaii time | UTC − 10 hours, year-round | 21:00 HST on the previous day, winter and summer alike. |
| India time | PKT + 30 minutes | 12:00 PKT = 12:30 IST the same day. |
| China time | PKT + 3 hours | 12:00 PKT = 15:00 CST the same day. |
Who uses this
- The remote worker with a Pakistan team: checks whether a noon Karachi standup means a very early morning at home, and confirms the date on the US side before accepting.
- The traveler booking flights to Pakistan: converts a Pakistan arrival time back to a US departure day, so a same-day connection is not misread across the date flip.
- The student joining a Pakistan-based class or event: finds the US night or early morning for a Pakistan daytime session, including the summer daylight-saving shift.
- The family calling relatives in Pakistan: picks a Pakistan evening that lands on a US morning, instead of waking someone up in the middle of the night — and avoids the 30-minute India Time trap.
Accuracy & limitations
PKT is UTC+5 with no daylight saving, so the Pakistan side of every conversion is exact. US times follow the daylight-saving rules in force on the entered date, which the converter reads from the browser's time-zone data; if those rules ever change by law, results for dates after the change depend on an updated browser. On this page, PKT means Pakistan Time only, and it must not be substituted with India Time (UTC+5:30). Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad share this single zone, which is why no separate city converter is needed.
