Full men's jeans size table: waist 28 to 44
Every row below follows Levi's published jeans size chart: the waist size fits a waist range of one inch (a W32 fits a 32 to 33 in waist), the US size is the waist in inches, the UK size is the same number, and the EU size is the waist plus 16 — so a 34 waist is UK 34 and EU 50. Levi's own chart runs to a 38 waist; sizes 39 to 44 extend the same rules, and odd-size hips sit between the chart columns.

Full women's jeans size table: waist 24 to 41
Women's jeans use the standard 0–20 scale: EU is the US size plus 30 and UK is the US size plus 4, so US 4 is EU 34 and UK 8. The waist bands match Levi's women's waist ranges — Levi's 24 fits a 24 to 25 in waist, Levi's 26 fits 26 to 27 in, and so on — and rows above a 35 in waist extend the same standard scale. Levi's own women's labels use the waist in inches (Levi's 24 is roughly US 0–2), so if a Levi's tag reads 24, look at the 24–25 in rows here.

How to measure your waist
Stand straight and wrap a flexible measuring tape around your natural waistline — just above your belly button, at the narrowest point of your torso — keeping the tape snug but not tight, and parallel to the floor. Do not measure over a thick belt or a bulky sweater, and do not pull the tape in: jeans are sized to the measurement, not to the measurement you wish you had. Measure after exhaling normally, and take the measurement twice — a tape that slips down to your hips will read two or three inches larger than your true waist. For men, the number on the tape is your US size: a 32 in tape reading is a US 32. For women, match the tape reading to the table: a 27 in reading is US 4, and a 27.5 in reading rounds up to the 28 in row, US 6.
Between sizes? Size up
If your waist falls between two rows, buy the larger size. A women's 27.5 in waist rounds up to the 28 in row — US 6, EU 36, UK 10 — because jeans that are half a size too small will pinch at the waistband all day, while half a size too large only needs a belt. The same rule holds for men, though the men's table is more forgiving: a W32 fits a 32 to 33 in waist, so a 32.5 in waist still takes a 32. Denim also stretches: rigid, non-stretch cotton relaxes with wear, so a snug pair of stiff jeans will give a little over the first weeks, while stretch denim with elastane holds its shape and should fit from day one.
Vanity sizing and brand variation
The numbers in these tables are the standard, but brands do not all play by them. Vanity sizing is real: some brands label a 34 in waist as a 32 to flatter the buyer, and fast-fashion brands are the worst offenders — a US 4 in one store can measure like a US 6 in another. Levi's runs roughly true to size, but rigid non-stretch pairs feel snug and relax with wear, so size up in stiff styles. Always check the brand's own chart for expensive jeans, and always measure your waist in inches first: the tape does not lie, even when the label does. If you are ordering online and the brand publishes a garment measurement rather than a body measurement, remember the garment is usually cut one to two inches larger than the body it fits, to allow for ease.

Who uses this
- The online shopper: wears a men's 32 in waist and learns he needs EU 48 before ordering from a European store, so the jeans arrive in the right size the first time.
- The UK buyer: wears women's US 4 and checks that her UK size is 8 — four more than the US number — before ordering from a British shop.
- The between-sizes buyer: measures a 27.5 in women's waist and learns to size up to US 6 (EU 36, UK 10) instead of squeezing into a 4.
- The Levi's buyer: sees Levi's 24 on a tag and learns it fits a 24 to 25 in waist, roughly US 0–2, so she checks the 24–25 in rows rather than guessing.
Accuracy & limitations
The men's conversions and waist bands follow Levi's published jeans size chart (levi.com size guide): US size is the waist in inches, UK is the same number, and EU adds 16 — a 34 waist is UK 34 and EU 50. The women's waist bands match Levi's women's waist ranges, and the US/EU/UK columns follow the standard women's conversion (EU = US + 30, UK = US + 4). Levi's own women's labels use the waist in inches rather than the 0–20 scale, so Levi's 24 is roughly US 0–2. Sizes above Levi's chart (men's above 38, women's above a 35 in waist) extend the same rules. Other brands cut differently — vanity sizing means a labelled size can measure one or two inches off the standard — so always check the brand's own chart for expensive jeans. Fit also depends on rise, stretch, and cut, none of which a waist number captures: two pairs in the same size can fit differently through the hips and thighs.
