Days Between Dates Calculator: Count Days & Months

On the defaults — January 1 to October 28, 2026 — the span is 300 days, 42 weeks and 6 days, 9 months 27 days, 7,200 hours, 432,000 minutes, 214 weekdays and 86 weekend days. Put in any two dates and the calculator counts the days between them — in days, weeks, calendar months, hours and minutes, with weekdays and weekend days counted in the span itself — or add and subtract days from a date. This one counts days in one place: the age-calculator page is the AGE — how old someone is in years, months and days — not the span between any two dates; the business-days-calculator page is the WORKDAYS — business days between two dates, holidays your way — not the whole span in days and months; the countdown-calculator page is the COUNTDOWN — days, hours, minutes and seconds until one date — not the span between two dates you pick; and the pregnancy-due-date-calculator page is the DUE DATE — a pregnancy due date from the last period — not a date span. No days-between-dates calculator exists on this site — this one is the first.

Days between dates calculator

The days between two dates are the difference of the two midnights: January 1 to October 28, 2026 is 300 days, because the dates are 300 midnights apart. On the defaults the span is also 42 weeks and 6 days, 9 months 27 days, 7,200 hours, 432,000 minutes, 214 weekdays (215 counting both ends), 86 weekend days and 301 days inclusive. The months are calendar months — 9 whole months to October 1, plus 27 days — and the weekdays are counted in the span itself, not estimated from the weeks. The calculator shows all of it with notes, never hides it.

Between dates counts the span from the start date to the end date; add/subtract days finds the date N days from the start date.

Four years gives From Thursday, January 1, 2026 to Tuesday, January 1, 2030: 1,461 days; 208 weeks and 5 days; 48 months 0 days; 35,064 hours; 2,103,840 minutes; 1,043 weekdays (1044 including both ends); 418 weekend days; 1,462 days inclusive.

What does 300 days mean?

It means January 1 and October 28, 2026 are 300 midnights apart: from Thursday, January 1, 2026 to Wednesday, October 28, 2026 is 300 days, 42 weeks and 6 days, 9 months 27 days, 7,200 hours and 432,000 minutes. The count is the difference of the two midnights, so the start date itself is day zero and the end date is day 300 — and if you count both ends, the span covers 301 days. Weekdays are counted in the span itself, not estimated from the weeks: 214 of the 300 days are weekdays, 86 are weekend days, and 215 weekdays fall in the span counting both ends.

Three things to check before you trust the number

Days, weeks and months are three different counts. 300 days is 42 weeks and 6 days — 42 whole weeks plus 6 days left over — and 9 months 27 days, which is 9 whole calendar months to October 1 plus 27 days. The weeks divide evenly, the months follow the calendar, and neither is the other: 42.857143 weeks is the unrounded figure, and it is not 9 months 27 days in another costume.

Months follow the calendar, not 30 days. A month is January to February, not 30 days: January 1 to February 1 is 1 month, February 1 to March 1 is 1 month, and January 31 plus one month is February 28, not March 3. The calculator counts whole calendar months first, then the days left over, so the months figure always lands on the same day of the month where one exists.

Inclusive and exclusive are different answers. From January 1 to October 28 is 300 days, and 301 days inclusive — the difference is whether you count the start date itself. Hotel nights, ages and deadlines usually want the exclusive count, 300; a trip that runs January 1 through October 28 covers 301 days. Say which one you mean, or the answer is off by one.

Worked example

On the defaults: January 1, 2026 to October 28, 2026.

  1. Days: October 28 minus January 1 = 300 days.
  2. Weeks: 300 ÷ 7 = 42 remainder 6, so 42 weeks and 6 days (unrounded 42.857143 weeks).
  3. Months: January 1 plus 9 calendar months is October 1, and October 1 to October 28 is 27 days, so 9 months 27 days.
  4. Hours: 300 × 24 = 7,200 hours.
  5. Minutes: 300 × 1,440 = 432,000 minutes.
  6. Weekdays: 42 whole weeks give 210 weekdays, and the 6 leftover days — Thursday to Tuesday — add 4, so 214 weekdays (215 counting both ends).
  7. Weekend days: 300 − 214 = 86 weekend days.
  8. Days inclusive: 300 + 1 = 301 days.
  9. Smallest end date for at least 300 days: October 28, 2026 — October 27 is 299 days.
  10. Add 100 days: January 1, 2026 plus 100 days is Saturday, April 11, 2026.

What the defaults assume

The defaults are January 1 to October 28, 2026 — the year so far, from New Year's Day to today — and the span is 300 days, 42 weeks and 6 days, 9 months 27 days. They are a starting point, not a benchmark: your dates may be a weekend, a leap year or a century apart, and the right answer for you is the one your dates describe. Change the start date, the end date and the days to add to your own and the calculator recomputes instantly. Take the two midnights, subtract, and count what falls in between.

These notes repeat in every explainer section because this page is built to be read start to finish: the defaults are one span, not a standard; days, weeks and months are three different counts; months follow the calendar, not 30 days; and inclusive and exclusive are different answers.

Who uses this

Accuracy & limitations

The calculator counts in whole days on the Gregorian calendar, in UTC, so no time zone ever moves a date by a day — every span on this page is checked against an independent model, and the weekdays are counted in the span itself, not estimated. What it cannot do is count holidays: the weekdays figure counts Monday to Friday, and a public holiday is still a weekday here, so a business-days count needs the business-days-calculator page. It also counts calendar months by the same-day rule, with the day clamped where the month is shorter — January 31 plus one month is February 28 — which is the usual convention, not the only one. And the page prints the unrounded weeks so the rounding does not mislead you — 300 days is 42.857143 weeks, not 42.86.

The days between two dates are the difference of the two midnights. On the defaults — January 1 to October 28, 2026 — the span is 300 days, 42 weeks and 6 days, 9 months 27 days, 7,200 hours, 432,000 minutes, 214 weekdays and 86 weekend days. Smallest end date for at least 300 days: October 28, 2026. Largest start date for at least 100 days: July 20, 2026. Smallest number of days to add for the result to reach at least April 1, 2026: 90 days. Largest number of days to subtract for the result to stay on or after October 1, 2026: 27 days. Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?

Subtract the earlier date from the later one: October 28, 2026 minus January 1, 2026 is 300 days. The count is the difference of the two midnights, so the start date is day zero and the end date is day 300. Put your dates into the calculator above and it works out the days, weeks, months, hours and minutes.

How many weeks is 300 days?

300 days is 42 weeks and 6 days — 42 whole weeks plus 6 days left over, or 42.857143 weeks unrounded. A week is 7 days, so divide by 7 and keep the remainder: 300 ÷ 7 = 42 remainder 6.

How many months is 300 days?

From January 1 to October 28, 2026 is 9 months 27 days — 9 whole calendar months to October 1, plus 27 days. Months follow the calendar, not 30 days, so the same 300 days from a different start date can be a different number of months.

How do I count weekdays between two dates?

Count Monday to Friday inside the span itself: January 1 to October 28, 2026 has 214 weekdays, 215 counting both ends, and 86 weekend days. The calculator counts them day by day, not by estimating from the weeks. For business days with holidays, use the business days calculator.

Does the count include the start and end dates?

The day count does not include the start date — January 1 to October 28 is 300 days — and the inclusive count does include both ends, 301 days. Say which one you mean: deadlines and ages usually want 300, a trip running January 1 through October 28 covers 301 days.

How do I add 100 days to a date?

Add the days and let the calendar carry the months: January 1, 2026 plus 100 days is Saturday, April 11, 2026. Switch the calculator above to add/subtract days, put in the start date and 100, and it gives the result date and its weekday. A negative number subtracts — October 28, 2026 minus 30 days is Monday, September 28, 2026.

What about leap years?

The calculator counts February 29 where it falls: January 1, 2024 to January 1, 2025 is 366 days, and February 28 to March 1, 2024 is 2 days. A century is a leap year only when it divides by 400 — 2000 was, 1900 was not, so January 1, 1900 to January 1, 2000 is 36,524 days and January 1, 2000 to January 1, 2100 is 36,525.

How do I calculate months between two dates?

Count whole calendar months first, then the days left over: January 1 to October 1 is 9 months, and October 1 to October 28 is 27 days, so 9 months 27 days. January 31 plus one month is February 28, because February has no 31st — the day is clamped to the end of the shorter month.
